The Toronto International Film Festival has signed a 10-year sponsorship deal with the Royal Bank of Canada, now the official bank and a major sponsor of the annual fest. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
‘Toronto is a critical market for RBC and the Toronto International Film Festival Group contributes significantly to the region’s economy, vitality and national and international reputation,’ said RBC regional president Jennifer Tory in a statement. ‘Our association with TIFFG extends beyond the two-week festival to support its diverse programming and cultural contributions throughout the year.’
Construction on TIFF’s new downtown home, Bell Lightbox, has been underway for 16 months. The TIFF Group has so far raised $147 million of its $196 million campaign goal for the new center.
‘We are grateful for this strategic partnership with RBC. Their new commitment reinforces their ongoing support of our vision and will enhance learning experiences in Bell Lightbox for years to come,’ added TIFF boss Piers Handling.
