Montreal’s Distraction Formats has closed several deals coming out of MIPTV, including a sale in the Ukraine and Middle East for the politically themed reality series The Next Great Leader.
The announcement follows a sale of Leader earlier this month to Germany’s ZDF for a primetime slot. The program, which pits aspiring politicians against each other, has already sold to the U.K. and South Africa. It airs here on CBC.
Also on the reality front, U.S. network Fox picked up the series TV Diaries, while The Big Experiment, in which individuals get the experience of living someone else’s life, sold to Scandinavia and France.
‘Not only has Distraction’s MIP slate been very well received, but many other formats are also generating a lot of sales activity following MIPTV,’ commented Distraction president Michel Rodrigue in a release.
The distributor is also seeing success with its eco-minded programming as titles including Eco House: The Challenge sold to Latin America, while the TV magazine How Clean Is Your Planet? was acquired in Poland.
Lifestyle shows Love It or Lose It and Makeover Wish sold to France’s NRJ, while comedy series Kenny vs. Spenny, airing here on Showcase, was renewed by Poland’s TV4 and the Netherlands’ BNN.
Rounding out Distraction’s recent sales is the multi-platform package Ripe Digital Entertainment from U.S.-based RDE Studios, acquired by France’s ABDA.
