Jericho wraps on A-Channel

It’s the end of the road for sci-fi series Jericho, which was axed late last week by U.S. broadcaster CBS, and aired its final episode Tuesday on the CTV-owned A-Channels.

The first season of Jericho, about a small Kansas town coming to grips with a nuclear disaster, starring Skeet Ulrich, was picked up by then-CHUM-owned Citytv stations in 2006, and aired on Wednesdays opposite Lost to an average 350,000 viewers in Ontario.

The show was initially cancelled by CBS after its first season, but fan outcry prompted the net to order a second season comprised of seven episodes. CTV came on board for its second season and premiered the first episode on Feb. 12 in the 10 p.m. timeslot, before moving the show to its A-Channels to play out the remainder of the season.

CBS president Nina Tassler released a statement noting that there were ‘passionate viewers’ watching the show, though she added ‘we simply wish there were more.’

There’s no word on what will replace Jericho on the A-Channel schedule.
