Milos to be feted at Banff

Actress Sofia Milos will join TV makers including Dick Wolf, David E. Kelley and David Chase when she picks up the award of excellence at the Banff World Television Festival in June.

The fest announced on Thursday that Milos will receive the prize, which recognizes ‘exceptional achievement through a body of work over an extended period of time.’

Best known for her work as detective Yelina Salas on CBS’ CSI: Miami, Milos also stars as a Homeland Security agent on CBC’s The Border. The homegrown series, from Peter Raymont’s White Pine Pictures, is being considered as a pickup by ABC in the U.S., though CBS, which was also eyeing it, has passed.

Milos has acted in numerous hit TV shows, including The Sopranos, playing a mob boss opposite James Gandolfini, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends and Mad About You.

‘It’s a great honor to be recognized by The Banff World Television Festival,’ said Milos in a release, adding that the event ‘has truly been embraced by the international broadcast community.’

‘Sofia’s expansive range as an actor has earned her international recognition and admiration. We are delighted to have the opportunity to acknowledge this,’ added Banff executive director Jennifer Harkness.

Milos is set to receive the award on June 9. The fest runs June 8-11.
