Insight gets Personal

Insight Film Studios will send Ashley Judd home this month, wrapping the two-month Vancouver shoot of the feature Helen, which stars the non-singing Judd as a professor struggling with depression. The picture – backed by Insight’s German partners at Egoli Tossell Film – also stars Goran Visnjic (Elektra) and closer-to-home talents Alberta Watson and David Hewlett, working under writer/director Sandra Nettelbeck (Sergeant Pepper).

Insight boss Kirk Shaw exec produces with Chris Curling, Robert Little, Doug Mankoff and Jens Meurer. It is due in theaters sometime next year.

Meanwhile, the company continues to shoot Personal Effects with Michelle Pfeiffer, Ashton Kutcher and Kathy Bates. Kutcher plays a man out to avenge his sister’s murder, but is sidetracked by a beautiful older woman, Pfeiffer. The feature is due to wrap in early January. David Hollander (Heartland, The Guardian) directs.

Gil Netter (Eragon) produces with Insight’s Kirk Shaw (Battle in Seattle), Christian Arnold-Beutel at Tadora and Tim McGrath of U.S.-based Cinefilm.
