The X-Files is coming back to Vancouver and will shoot a sequel to its 1998 feature starting next month. The movie for 20th Century Fox reunites creator Chris Carter with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who will reprise their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
Carter will reportedly direct from a script cowritten with Frank Spotnitz, who worked on both the previous film and the smash series, which ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002. Carter and Spotnitz also produce. The series was based in B.C. during its early seasons but later relocated to California. Fox has slated the new movie for release on July 25, 2008, but is otherwise keeping a tight lid on the details, except that it is a standalone supernatural thriller.
