Saturday Night Live led overall Canadian demand following its SNL50: The Anniversary Special in mid-February.
The NBC sketch comedy and variety program was 102.5 times more in demand than the average Canadian series during the week of Feb. 17 to 23, according to Parrot Analytics. The three-hour Saturday Night Live special, commemorating its 50th anniversary season, aired on Feb. 16 and featured Canadian former cast members such as Martin Short and Mike Myers as well as a tribute to Quebec City-born comedian Norm Macdonald, who died in 2021. The whole affair was capped off with Short celebrating the series’ Toronto-born creator Lorne Michaels.
HBO’s The White Lotus, available in Canada through Crave, was the second most in-demand series during the week with a demand average of 62.1. The satirical anthology, which had its third season premiere on Feb. 16, follows the interactions of guests, staff and locals at the titular resort chain. Each season of the series has been filmed at different locations of the Toronto-headquartered luxury hospitality chain Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
Landing at No. 3 overall and at No. 1 on the digital originals chart was Prime Video’s Invincible. The adult animated superhero series saw its demand average fall slightly from 55.1 the previous week to 52.5 as it continues its third season.
Prime Video’s Reacher (41.2) was No. 2 on the digital originals chart. The series, based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels, had its third season premiere on Feb. 20. It follows the eponymous Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson, as he is pulled out of his drifter lifestyle to uncover conspiracies and combat criminal enterprises.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market. Demand is defined as the total audience demand being expressed for a title within a market. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and viewership, weighted by importance; so a stream or download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or comment.
