• The National Film Board has upped Tracey Friesen to exec producer of its Pacific and Yukon Centre, where she has worked since 2001 producing such films as Scared Sacred and Being Caribou.

• Raja Khanna has stepped back from QuickPlay Media, the company he cofounded. He will continue as an advisor and board member for the mobile video-on-demand streamer, but has ceased his day-to-day duties.

• Rogers Sportsnet has added former NHLer and prominent broadcaster Bill Clement to its roster of hockey analysts. Clement jumps into the action for the Oct. 1 season preview and will do regular updates during the season as well as trade-deadline and playoff specials.

• Trevor Hembrey has taken over as senior broadcast design producer with Cuppa Coffee Studios, leaving his post as head of production with Partners’ Film Company after seven years.

• Guru Studio has snagged eight-year International Disney Channel exec Mary Bredin to develop new properties for TV, film and the Internet, and to manage acquisitions for the animation studio. It’s Bredin’s return to Canada after spending the last 12 years in Paris and London.

• Ian Kelso, president of the new media organization Interactive Ontario, is now, also, president of the Canadian Interactive Alliance.

• Astral Media has promoted Mark Waschulzik to a new position, director of affiliate marketing, where he will manage departmental spending and co-ordinate events, among other duties. Leanne Shearer, meanwhile, is now affiliate sales representative, overseeing such accounts as all Canadian Cable Systems Alliance members, SaskTel and Telus.

• Nicola Makoway is leaving her PR post at Achilles Media – organizers of the Banff World Television Festival and nextMEDIA – to be publicity manager for Random House Publishing.

• Sadia Zaman is taking over for Sue Sheridan as executive director of Women in Film and Television – Toronto.
