Little Mosque on the West Bank

Little Mosque on the Prairie has been picked up by broadcasters in Israel, Turkey and Finland following a triple play of deals unveiled this week by WestWind Pictures.

The show has sold to Stars 3 — a pay satellite channel serving Israel, the West Bank and Gaza — which will beam season one of the laugh-about-religion sitcom into its religiously tense territory starting Oct. 23.

‘Since debuting last season we’ve received numerous e-mails from people in this region asking when the show will be coming to their country,’ said executive producer Mary Darling in a statement. Little Mosque will air in English with Hebrew subtitles.

The series has also gone to the Finnish free-to-air channel YLE Teema, which bought seasons one and two for a three-year period, set to start in 2008, and to Turkey’s Kanal 7, another freebie, which took season one and a portion of season two, with an option for the rest.

Season two of Little Mosque debuts Oct. 3 on CBC.
