Think wins Battle

ThinkFilm has picked up the U.S. rights to Battle in Seattle from its producers at Insight Film Studios and Remstar, following talks at the Toronto International Film Festival. The deal, brokered by Endeavor Independent, was signed in the closing days of the festival, says Insight, following the premiere on Sept. 8.

‘We are excited,’ said Insight boss Kirk Shaw in a statement. ‘This partnership will help both Insight and ThinkFilm benefit and grow… taking both companies to the next level.’

The film by Stuart Townsend stars Charlize Theron and Woody Harrelson, and re-enacts the riots that greeted the meeting of the World Trade Organization in 1999. The Canadian rights are held by Remstar and Insight, while the overseas rights are being sold by Hyde Park International. It shot last year in Vancouver and Seattle.

There was no word on a release date. Battle in Seattle will play at the Vancouver International Film Festival on Oct. 3.
