Muse brings Jekyll to Montreal

Muse Productions has got horror on the mind this summer, with two made-for-TV movies. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, based on the classic by Robert Louis Stevenson, wrapped on Aug. 15. Directed by Paolo Barzman (Emotional Arithmetic), the $5-million project stars Dougray Scott (Desperate Housewives), as both Hyde and Jekyll, and Tom Skerritt (Picket Fences). The script was written by Paul Margolis (Sirens). It will air in the U.S. on ION Networks.

The second is The Day of the Drones, a cautionary horror/sci-fi of genetic engineering gone terribly wrong. The MOW stars horror legend Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and is directed by David Winning (Stargate: Atlantis). The story – wherein scientists mess with the DNA of some bees – is by Todd Samovitz (Wonderland) and Ethlie Ann Vare (Andromeda). Shooting on Drones commenced on Aug. 1 and was due to wrap Aug. 17.

The Day of the Drones is produced for the Sci Fi Channel by Irene Litinsky (Human Trafficking) and Ric Nish (Durham County) on a $2-million budget, and exec produced by Michael Prupas (Human Trafficking), Robert Halmi, Sr. (The Ten Commandments) and Robert Halmi, Jr. (The Christmas Card). Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is produced by Litinsky and François Sylvestre (The Human Stain) and exec produced by Prupas, Halmi, Sr. and Halmi, Jr.

Both films will be distributed by RHI internationally, with no Canadian broadcaster yet announced.
