• Citytv Toronto reporter David Onley has been named lieutenant governor of Ontario. One of Onley’s priorities will be to improve Ontario’s accessibility for the disabled.

• Derek Anderson has joined Frantic Films as director of development for its live-action division. Anderson plans to add science, history and drama content to the Winnipeg company’s slate. He was previously head of development at Toronto’s Cream Productions.

• Laverne McGee is leaving a Fox Network affiliate in Florida to join CHCH News this September. The Emmy award-winning journalist will co-anchor the 6 p.m news on the Hamilton, ON station with Dan McLean. McGee began her career at CTV in Kitchener and went on to report and anchor the news for CBS, BET and Fox.
