CTV is launching a weekly spin-off of Canadian Idol online. The nine-episode Canadian Idol: All Access will premiere on Friday on its broadband site at www.ctv.ca, available on-demand at 4 p.m. ET.
All Access, unlike the on-air series, is not hosted by Ben Mulroney. Dave Kerr, Canadian Idol‘s roving reporter, will host the broadband show, which the net is billing as its third night of Idol programming.
The broadband series will include segments not shown on Idol including: what happens to a competitor after elimination, pundits deliberating the week’s water cooler moments, behind-the-scenes footage from the show and the Idol Mansion, home videos, and immediate reactions from competitors’ families. One segment will tease what the remaining Idol competitors are working on for the following week.
CTV already produces a 15-minute broadband recap, Idol in 15, that is made available the morning following each broadcast.
