CTV laughs it up with Comedy Central

CTV announced a major deal with Viacom’s Comedy Central Tuesday for exclusive broadcast and multiplatform rights in Canada to the cable channel’s entire programming slate. The deal allows CTV to deliver everything from full episodes to clips and ringtones via broadband, mobile, VOD, or any other platform.

All Canadian web traffic to Comedy Central’s online assets — such as www.comedycentral.com, www.southparkstudios.com, www.jokes.com and www.colbertnation.com — will be redirected to CTV’s recently relaunched site, www.thecomedynetwork.ca.

‘With this new strategic content deal in place, CTV gets exclusive access to a vast supply of top comedy titles, plus the flexibility to program them to viewers on the platform of their choice,’ said the network’s programming chief Susanne Boyce in a statement.

The package includes more than 200 hours of current series, including full episodes of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, South Park, The Colbert Report, The Sarah Silverman Program, Lil’ Bush, Mind of Mencia, Reno 911!, The Showbiz Show with David Spade, Drawn Together and the yet-to-premiere American Body Shop. CTV also has access to the complete catalogue of Comedy Central programs.
