Seville in for Christal

Seville Pictures is picking up where Christal Films left off, having signed a deal to handle new and catalogue films from Maple Pictures and its U.S. partner, Lionsgate, in Quebec.

The deal, which will be handled on a title-by-title basis, according to a Seville spokesperson, covers all distribution rights and will begin with the June 8 release of the torture/horror Hostel: Part II. Christal ended a similar agreement earlier this month.

Other releases due from Maple and LG in the coming months include another torture/horror, Captivity, and the Canadian-made monster picture Skinwalkers, in June and July, respectively. The Russell Crowe vehicle 3:10 to Yuma and Saw IV are due in October.

‘We are very enthusiastic about working with Maple Pictures and Lionsgate, two important companies whose films complement our own. This agreement will be good for everyone,’ said Seville co-president David Reckziegel in a statement issued on Friday. The Montreal company also handles product from Warner Independent Pictures.
