CBC’s international sales division has secured multiple deals with global broadcasters for its investigative documentaries, including Mississippi Cold Case, which went to MSNBC. The doc, by producer David Ridgen, is an investigation into a 43-year-old murder that led to the arrest of a suspect earlier this year.
‘MSNBC is very pleased to exclusively bring this documentary to the American television audience,’ said MSNBC senior executive producer Scott Hooker in a release.
ABC Australia’s current affairs show Four Corners also acquired Mississippi, along with the fifth estate‘s The Denial Machine, an investigative doc about global warming. Denial was also sold to NRK in Norway.
The Ceeb’s Confidential doc series also caught the interest of buyers at Sweden’s TV4, Brazil’s Globosat, and Hong Kong’s TVB, which acquired ‘Chocolate Confidential,’ while SBS in Holland and Hungary’s HBO gained ‘Christmas Confidential’ and ‘Hairstyle Confidential.’
Meanwhile, Discovery in Latin America and M-Net in South Africa both signed deals for Nuclear Jihad: Can Terrorists Get the Bomb?, about the spread of nuclear weapons around the world. The deals took shape at last month’s MIPTV.
