Actor Colm Feore will climb on stage twice during this year’s Banff World Television Festival: to accept its award of distinction, and for a sit-down chat with his Bon Cop, Bad Cop producer Kevin Tierney.
The festival announced Thursday that Feore — seen most recently in the buddy cop comedy with Patrick Huard — will take home the prize, which is sponsored by NBC Universal Canada. Organizers also gave high marks for his work in Chicago, Trudeau and his ‘mesmerizing’ turn in Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould.
‘Colm Feore has become a cultural icon,’ said festival CEO Robert Montgomery in a release. ‘His prowess and versatility as an actor and his multiple successes in film, television and theater make him the obvious choice.’
The prize, which last year went to Paul Haggis, will be presented during a luncheon on June 11. Feore will also take part in an ‘In Conversation With’ talk with Tierney during the fest, which runs June 10-13.
