ISO supports three interactive, immersive projects

The projects from Ontario and B.C. were selected for funding through the Indigenous Screen Office's Interactive and Immersive Program.

The Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) is supporting three Indigenous projects with an investment of $225,000 through its Interactive and Immersive Program.

The program, a part of ISO’s Story Fund stream, provides development and production funding to video games, AR, VR and extended reality works, apps and interactive and/or immersive projects that include audiovisual content.

Two of the projects are B.C.-based: the interactive and immersive mixed media project stxałq (huckleberry) (Of the Land Productions), led by key creative Tracey Bonneau, and the interactive and immersive audiovisual project The Seedling (Blue Raven Designs), led by Carey Newman.

From Ontario is 2RO Media’s extended reality experience Otekhnótshera from key creatives Jackson Twobears and January Rogers.

Support for six other projects, funded in partnership with the Canada Media Fund (CMF), had been announced in May. An ISO spokesperson told Playback Daily that those projects, which were allocated $500,000, have not received additional funding as part of this announcement. Ten unique Indigenous languages are included across the nine projects.

The CMF became a partner of ISO’s Interactive and Immersive Program last September, bringing its total budget up to $900,000.
