– OLN has ordered a second season (13 x 30) of the docusoap The Rig from Edmonton’s Anaid Productions.

– TSN and NASCAR have signed another round of deals, extending the sports channel’s rights to air auto races into 2010. TSN will carry the NASCAR Nextel series of races – which includes the Daytona 500 – for another three years and has extended its partnership pact on NASCAR Canada to 2015. This follows a multi-year deal signed in January for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

– Cookie Jar Entertainment has sold its new 2D cartoon Magi-Nation (26 x 30) to Kids’ WB!, CBC and Radio-Canada, set to air this fall.

– Bell Canada and the all-soccer digichannel GOLTV have signed a deal to air the latter’s coverage of games from England, Spain, Germany and elsewhere on video-capable Bell cell phones and at sympatico.msn.ca.

– U.K.-based Novel Entertainment has inked an international sales and distribution deal for its Horrid Henry with Nelvana Enterprises. The 52 x 11 2D toon, aimed at six- to nine-year-olds, is based on a popular series of books and debuted last fall on the U.K.’s CiTV and ITV 1.

– HBO has bought Cracked Not Broken from filmmaker Paul Perrier and exec producer Tom Powers of Open Door – and will air the acclaimed profile of a Toronto crack addict during a free preview weekend in March. The doc has yet to find a broadcaster in Canada.
