Moore takes top spot at CBC Sports

CBC Television has named Scott Moore, the former head of production at Rogers Sportsnet, as its new executive director of CBC Sports, effective Monday.

Moore recently owned Top Notch Studios, an independent production company based in Vancouver, where he was involved in major sporting events including the Athens and Torino Olympic Games.

‘As a Gemini and Emmy award-winning producer with an international reputation for innovative sports production, Scott has a wealth of knowledge and experience which will provide a tremendous benefit to the CBC,’ said CBC EVP Richard Stursberg in a release.

‘As always, the CBC will be operating in a competitive and rapidly-changing environment and I intend to build on its reputation for excellence, and strengthen the CBC’s position as the place Canadians turn for the best in amateur and professional sports,’ said Moore.

Moore replaces interim executive director David Masse, who replaced former sports head Nancy Lee after she quit in October for a post with the international broadcast team for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

CBC is currently working on renewing its contract to air NHL games, competing against CTV/TSN.
