ACTRA Toronto got in just ahead of the Oscars this year, and handed out its highest honors on Friday night — handing its prize for best male performance to Gordon Pinsent for his turn in Away from Her and best female to Maria Del Mar for her work on the series Terminal City.

The actors union also handed out its first prize for best voice work, which went posthumously to performer Len Carlson for his work on the cartoon series Atomic Betty. Carlson, who died last year, was nom’d alongside his costar Tajja Isen.

As previously announced, Wendy Crewson was presented this year’s award of excellence, in recognition of her many years of work both on the screen and as an activist.
