A couple of high-profile Montreal producers will be feted with prizes at the CFTPA Awards Luncheon that closes Prime Time on Feb. 23.
Last year was remarkable for Park Ex Pictures’ Kevin Tierney, whose feature Bon Cop, Bad Cop entered the record books with its $12-million-plus box-office haul, and so it is no surprise that he is being heralded by the CFTPA as its Entrepreneur of the Year.
Meanwhile, Galafilm Productions’ Arnie Gelbart will be honored with the CFTPA-Kodak Lifetime Achievement Award.
Gelbart’s catalog extends from national to international productions, through documentaries, features and TV. Among his upcoming projects is the drama/doc/interactive ‘Mars Project’ for Discovery Channel. Gelbart’s credits also include the TV doc The Origins of AIDS and the feature film The Blue Butterfly. Through his career, he has earned a Genie, three Prix Gemeaux, three Geminis, a Prix Europa and a Primetime Emmy.
