* CBC has promoted Lisa Clarkson to senior director of business, rights and content management for English television, up from a director’s post now held by Susan Kelly, former general counsel at ExtendMedia.
Also at the Ceeb, Jane Angel is now director of business, rights and content management for news, current affairs and Newsworld, documentaries and factual entertainment programming, while Peter Schneider and John Vekar have been named co-managers of the arts and entertainment business group.
* Former TVOntario exec Doug Grant is now director of current affairs and weekly programs for CBC and CBC Newsworld, replacing Julie Bristow.
* Troy Reeb has been named VP of news operations for Global News and CH News, returning after a two-year post as Global’s Washington bureau chief.
* Ira Pincus is now an executive producer at Blueprint Entertainment, and will oversee its slate of TV movies. Also at Blueprint, Lael McCall, former president of Principia Productions, has been hired as development and production consultant, and Elizabeth Madariaga has been named director of development.
* Stephen Freeland is the new operations manager at CCI Digital, while Chris Gudgeon has been appointed senior producer.
* Darren Dreger has joined TSN as a ‘hockey insider’ and will appear during the sportscaster’s NHL coverage.
* Sandy Hunter is the new website producer for Showcase.ca at Alliance Atlantis. Hunter is a former programmer with short film festival Resfest Canada.
* Peter Armstrong has rejoined Toronto post shop Magnetic North as technical director and editor. Armstrong was most recently the GM of Eyes Post Group, a position he took up in November.
* Visual effects veteran Dan Kelly has joined Toronto’s Spin Productions as senior visual effects supervisor, coming over from The Moving Picture Company in the U.K. Also at Spin, Mike Spicer is now lead designer and Lisa Hemeon has rejoined the company as executive producer.
* Jennifer Chen is the new general manager of recently formed OUAT Media, a film distribution offshoot of Channel Zero.
* Saied Javadi Nejad is the new regional sales manager for Ross Video’s Middle East division, having left Sony Professional Services in the United Arab Emirates after eight years.
