Looking to provide greater efficiency as a one-stop post shop, PowerPost Production has completed the consolidation of its audio and video post businesses into a single, 10,000-square-foot facility in downtown Halifax.
In addition to having everything under one roof, PowerPost has expanded its capabilities with two new mix stages, an ADR stage, and a digital intermediate suite.
‘It’s always been our goal to marry our two facilities,’ says shop president and CEO Rob Power. ‘Now our clients will be able to work on their audio mix for part of the day, then walk across the hall to supervise their HD editing for the rest of it… It’s also a great way for our 30 staff from the various disciplines to collaborate and come up with new approaches to making the best product possible.’
PowerPost is currently providing post services for the CBC limited-run series October 1970 by Barna-Alper Productions and local prodco Big Motion Pictures. It is also in the midst of the highly anticipated Trailer Park Boys feature, as well as the kids series Bo on the Go! and Poko for The Halifax Film Company.
Rounding out its slate are the feature A Bug and a Bag of Weed for After Dark Productions, preschooler The Mighty Jungle for Creative Atlantic, and the 26-part doc series Dreamwrecks for Arcadia Entertainment.
‘Normally, June through July is a slow period, but this year we are screaming busy,’ says Power.
Completed in May, the new PowerPost facility is loaded for online editing with an Avid DS Nitris HD suite, two Avid Symphony suites, and a Final Cut Pro HD room. For VFX, it relies on Flint, Jaleo and Combustion workstations for compositing and paint, along with 3ds Max and Maya for 3D animation.
