Winnipeg: CAB handed out its Gold Ribbon Awards on Nov. 8, cheering the best in Canadian radio and TV.
CHUM cornered the community service honors, with The Liveable City on Citytv Toronto winning in the large-market category, while a telethon for an Ottawa-area cancer center paid off for CHRO. CFJC Kamloops scored for small markets with its United Way: We Live Here.
OMNI 1 and 2 in Toronto shared the documentary win for the gay marriage special Gloriously Free. Michael MacMillan, exec chairman of Alliance Atlantis Communications, took home the Gold Ribbon for Broadcast Excellence, while City’s ecology specialist Bob Hunter was posthumously awarded the prize for outstanding community service.
