Pow Wow Chow, La brigade join APTN’s spring lineup

The programming scheduled also includes the new docuseries Mi'kma'ki and the previously announced children's series Chums.

Food-focused docuseries Pow Wow Chow and animated youth series La brigade are among the newly announced series in APTN’s spring programming lineup.

Pow Wow Chow (13 x 22 minutes) will premiere on APTN lumi on April 30 (Ojibwe and English) and on APTN on May 7 (Ojibwe and English). The French-language La brigade (13 x 24 minutes) will premiere on APTN on May 11 and APTN lumi the following day.

Pow Wow Chow (pictured) is produced by InterINDigital Entertainment and SandBay Entertainment. The series follows two Indigenous chefs, Shawn Adler and Bob Chilblow, as they tackle the challenges of being travelling food vendors. Pow Wow Chow is directed by Neil Grahn, and co-written by Grahn and  InterINDigital’s Katery Legault. Legault and SandBay’s Sarah Fodey are producers.

Produced by Winnipeg-based Manito Brigade 1, La brigade centres on a group of students who form a student committee to make their voices heard — with mixed results. The series is directed by Nadianne Arsenault and Jessica Beckett. Charles Clément, Patrick Clément and Louise Deniset are producers.

La brigade’s cast includes Josée Kornelson, Carmen Clement, Daniel Roy, Charles Clement, Darrell Morin, Micheline Marchildon, Colin Remillard, Aurélie Nana Forson, Monique Lacoste, Lacina Dembélé, Aimé Boisjoli, Tess Zeiner, Ella Clement, Andrina Turenne, Manuel Ortega, Louise Deniset, Jean Fontaine and Patrick Trudel.

Another newly announced series is Mi’kma’ki, which looks at the Indigenous experience in communities across Newfoundland and Labrador. The documentary series, directed and produced by Wendell G. Collier, will premiere on APTN lumi on April 29 in Mi’kmaq and in English on July 30. APTN premiere dates are May 6 in Mi’kmaq, followed by the English-language launch on Aug. 6. Wanderer Entertainment is the producer.

The spring lineup also includes the previously announced children’s series Chums (18 x 11 minutes; Paxolotl Media, Zoot Pictures), which will premiere on APTN lumi on May 4 in Ojibwe, followed by its Cree and English-language debut on May 5. The series will air on APTN on May 11 in Ojibwe, and in Cree and English languages on May 12. The series has already been renewed for a second season.

Docuseries On the Front Line (13 x 22 minutes; Kassiwi Média), which originally aired in French as Sur le terrain, will have its Innu and English-language premiere on APTN lumi on April 29 and 30, respectively. It will launch on APTN on May 6 in Innu and in English the next day.

The Cree version of the Rezolution Pictures-produced docuseries Lands Enchanted (13 x 30 minutes) will premiere on APTN on May 7 and APTN lumi the following day.

Returning series include season seven of the cooking show Moosemeat & Marmalade (13 x 22 minutes; Mooswa Films), which will have its French- and English-language premieres on May 6 and 7 on APTN, and on APTN lumi on May 7 and 8, respectively.

Rounding out the list of returning series is Bears’ Lair (9 x 22 minutes; Sparkly Frog Clan Productions, Brightlight Pictures). Season two of the reality series will have its English-language premiere on APTN on June 4, while the French version will debut on June 10. The APTN lumi premiere dates are June 5 (English) and 11 (French).
