CTV’S Corner Gas passed another ratings record on Feb. 21 when its audience approached two million.

With special guest appearances by Colin James and The Tragically Hip, the episode, titled ‘Rock On,’ attracted 1.89 million Canadians and will be repeated on The Comedy Network March 12 at 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, a special best-of episode of Rick Mercer’s Monday Report on CBC nearly hit the one-million mark. Up against Corner Gas on Feb. 21 at 8 p.m., the episode attracted 881,000 viewers to the Ceeb, around 100,000 viewers more than the show’s first episodes pulled in after its 2004 debut.

CBC also did moderately well with its comedy miniseries The Tournament, which attracted 508,000 viewers to its final episode on Feb. 7. The six-part miniseries had an average audience of 547,000.

Still on CBC, the first episode of the final season of The Newsroom aired Feb. 14, bringing in 328,000 viewers, just shy of the 376,000 viewers who tuned in to watch This Is Wonderland the following night. Throughout this season the drama has attracted an average 452,000 viewers.
