Titanic 2D

Vancouver: Cloning Clone High just a little, busy Vancouver animation house Studio B Productions is in production in June with Class of the Titans, a half-hour action-adventure series for kids about the modern-day teenaged descendants of the classic Greek gods. The 26 half-hour project, done in coproduction with Toronto’s Nelvana, reunites the creative team behind Yvon of the Yukon, including creators Chris Bartleman and Michael Lahay and head writer Victor Nicolle. Titans, done in traditional 2D animation, will be shipped off to Top Draw Animation in Manila, Philippines for final animation work and will air in fall 2005.

Being Ian, meanwhile, is a Flash series that Studio B is doing entirely in Vancouver. The 26 x 30 project for YTV was starting the mix of its first episodes at press time.

On the service side, Studio B is doing the Never Ending Adventures of Frosty the Snowman, a direct-to-video 2D feature for Classic Media in New York, and two Flash-animated 30-minute educational DVDs based on the Reader Rabbit teaching program.

With the go-ahead from Family Channel, Studio B hopes to be in production this fall with 52 11-minute episodes of Flakes, a series about the cereal people who live in Breakfastown.

In other Vancouver toon news, Bardel Animation’s, in-house series Silverwing received the top-of-the-heap Platinum Award for best animated TV and cable production at the 2004 WorldFest-Houston Film Festival. Ian Edwards
