* Corus Entertainment has promoted Joanna Webb to VP programming for its children’s television channels. She will oversee Discovery Kids Canada, Treehouse TV and YTV, while remaining W Network’s acting director of programming.
* Judy Ranan is now senior marketing director, and Vicky Choy is the marketing coordinator at the newly opened Toronto Ontario Film Office in Los Angeles, a joint effort by the Ontario Media Development Corporation and FilmOntario.
* Documentary filmmaker Gary Marcuse has been appointed programming executive for CBC British Columbia. A 25-year veteran in media production with two Geminis, Marcuse will be responsible for managing the program development department in B.C. and will play a key role in the shaping of program development priorities and directions, particularly in regards to documentary programming.
* Toronto-based Summerhill Entertainment has hired Robert Fiveson as an executive producer/producer. He will develop and oversee doc and lifestyle production from the company’s office in Washington DC.
* Alain Gourd is retiring from Bell Globemedia as executive VP, corporate. He was president and CEO of BCE Media, formerly Bell Satellite Services, before joining BGM.
Paul Sparkes, senior VP of corporate and public affairs, will assume Gourd’s responsibility for regulatory affairs.
