ShowCanada 2003 unspools April 30 to May 4 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.
The four-day industry trade show, organized by the Motion Picture Theatre Association of Canada and chairperson Adina Lebo, includes a conference program, networking sessions, screenings, exhibits and some serious after-hours partying.
ShowCanada seminar highlights include sessions with master retail marketeer Pete Luckett and University of Toronto professor and author David K. Foot (Boom, Bust & Echo).
New this year is a program that screens profiles of upcoming releases from Canadian distributors.
Gala screenings include Denys Arcand’s Les Invasions barbares (Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm), Emile Gaudreault’s Mambo Italiano (Equinoxe), the National Film Board documentary The Last Round: Chuvalo vs Ali and a special midnight screening of Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever (Lions Gate).
Presenters at the MPTAC Industry Update sesssion include Howard Lichtman, president of the Lightning Group; Doug Frith, CMPDA president; David Polny, VP, Famous Players; and Ken Prue, executive with Galaxy Entertainment.
