* Robb Chase has been named president and CEO of Famous Players, taking over command of Canada’s largest theatre chain from outgoing film vet John Bailey. Chase, previously president and COO, is ‘has had an enormous impact on the company’ since joining three years ago, according to Tom McGrath, EVP of Famous Players parent Viacom Entertainment Group.
In 11 years, Bailey steered the company through a massive expansion phase in the late 90s and oversaw the launch of its Famous magazine brand.
* Twentieth Century Fox/Incendo Television has appointed David Heath to executive director of television program sales for English Canada.
Heath has more than 10 years experience in the film and television industry and was most recently the director of programming for Rogers Media. He has worked with pay-TV programming with Astral Media and has program development experience with Landscape Entertainment. Heath has also worked with Alliance Atlantis Communications.
* Lee Wilson returns to Vancouver-based Rainmaker as senior visual F/X supervisor. Wilson, a 26-year industry veteran of film and television, has worked with notable Canadian filmmakers such as David Cronenberg as optical F/X supervisor on Dead Ringers. He was with Rainmaker from 1995 to 2000.
* Daniel Meyer takes over media relations for Chaines Tele-Astral specialty channels Z and VRAK.TV. Nathalie Roy will handle press relations for Canal VIE and Historia.
