* CanWest Global has appointed company vice chairman and former CEO Peter Viner publisher of the National Post. Viner will replace newspaper veteran Gordon Fisher, who’s been appointed president, news and information at CanWest.

* At Telefilm Canada, Brigitte Monneau has been promoted to manager of coproductions. Monneau has been with the agency as a coproduction analyst since January. From 1996 to 2001, she was in charge of coproduction and international distribution legal matters for Motion International/TVA International.

Brigitte Hubmann joins Telefilm’s festivals and markets team as specialist – international festivals. She previously headed up the first New York office of the Export Union of German Cinema.

* Jennifer Stewart has been appointed director of international coproductions, sales, and acquisitions for CBC. Stewart, a member of the CBC sales team since 1998, has been acting director during a period of review of all business practices for international sales.

* Carole Bonneau moves up to VP of programming at Teletoon. Bonneau joined Teletoon in 1996 as director of programming for the English and French networks.

* Justin Albert has been named VP of production for Animal Planet. Albert was most recently VP of production and development for Discovery Digital Networks.

* Jane Macnaughton has been appointed Vision TV’s VP of finance and administration.

* Serge Bellerose, chair of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ specialty and pay board, has been named VP specialty channels, corporate affairs and regional stations for French-language Reseau TVA.

* Denis Dunlop has been appointed VP and general manager, CTV Saskatchewan.

* Donald Bastien has been appointed senior VP and general manager of CFCF Montreal, recently acquired by CTV.

* The Canadian Television Fund has announced the following appointments: Phil Serruya to the newly created position of director of communications, Judy Watt as director of finance, and Tara Rajan as director of research and data.

* Newly elected members to Women in Film and Television – Toronto’s 11-member board are: Jennifer Harkness, production exec, Global TV; Joanne Gordon, Ontario sales and national market manager of media and entertainment, RBC Royal Bank of Canada; and Lisa Clarkson, manager of production financing for TV arts and entertainment, CBC.
