Da Vinci’s conquering spirit

Now in its fourth season, and the previous winner of four Geminis, Da Vinci’s Inquest stars Nicholas Campbell as Vancouver coroner Dominic Da Vinci attempting to solve the mysteries behind the deaths committed in downtown Eastside.

Over the course of its run, the drama has built a reputation for taking on the neighborhood’s problems, from prostitution to drug abuse.

Highlights of the coming season are crises faced by homicide detectives Mick Leary (Ian Tracey) and Leo Shannon (Donnelly Rhodes), who will encounter conflicts in both their professional and personal lives. Meanwhile, Da Vinci battles his own demons.

The show has won Gemini Awards for the past two years for best dramatic TV series as well as more than a dozen Leo Awards, including one for Campbell for best male performance in a dramatic deries. Writers Guild of Canada honors have come for the series’ writers, in the form of top 10 awards for each previous season.

Da Vinci’s Inquest is created by Chris Haddock, with Haddock and Laszlo Barna as executive producers. The show has been sold to over 40 countries.
