* LORI Rosenberg has been appointed VP and general manager of Corus Entertainment’s new digital channels SCREAM and EdgeTV.
Rosenberg was previously the director of programming for CHCH-TV in Hamilton, and before that, director of programming for Showcase and History Television.
Corus has also announced the appointment of Daryl Wiggers as program director for SCREAM and assistant program director for EdgeTV.
* Following the CRTC’s approval of Quebecor Media’s takeover of Groupe Videotron, the cable company’s president and CEO Guy Beauchamps is being temporarily replaced by Pierre Karl Peladeau, Quebecor Media’s president and CEO.
Past president and COO of Groupe Videotron (1991-1996) Serge Gouin has been appointed chairman of Videotron. In this capacity, he will chair the selection committee, which will make recommendations to the board of directors of Quebecor Media on the appointment of a new president of Videotron.
Gouin served as trustee of Videotron from October 2000 to May 23, 2001, the date which the CRTC approved the company’s takeover.
* Alliance Atlantis’ broadcasting group has appointed Walter Levitt VP of marketing, broadening his portfolio to include the seven digital channels being launched in September.
Jim Johnson, former director of national sales promotions, has been appointed director of marketing, lifestyle networks, which, as of September, will expand to include Discovery Health Channel.
Steve Rayment, former director of advertising and communications for Discovery Channel, has been appointed director of marketing, factual networks.
Murial Solomon will take on the role of director of marketing, dramatic networks, which is expanding to include the new digital Showcase channels, Showcase Action and Showcase Diva.
* Marty Hasselbach has been appointed managing director of Vancouver Film School. Hasselbach joined VFS in October 2000 as director of operations. In his new position, he is responsible for the overall strategic planning and direction of the school, maximizing international opportunities for growth, global marketing and advertising, sales and industry partnerships.
