Not-So-Grimm-Brothers postponed again

Devine Entertainment has terminated its agreement with CIC Productions to distribute the Toronto-based prodco’s Not-So-Grimm-Brothers series.

In late May, Devine was forced to postpone production to August on the $8.5-million series because Southern California-based cic had yet to deliver the financing. The company was counting on the delivery of the series to impact its 2000 financials, but such plans have definitely fallen through, with production on the series postponed to next year.

Devine has also severed its agreement with Vancouver’s WSi-Interactive to develop and market Devine’s interactive website, due to what the company says was ‘a lack of significant progress on developmental obligations.’

The plan was to expand Devine’s existing website (www.devinetime.com) into a children’s entertainment and education Web portal. WSi was to invest $1 million to drive traffic and increase sales, while Devine continued to supply the site with creative content.

The company says it is now exploring other opportunities to develop and market the site, but this setback will not affect Devine’s earnings as the value of the website is not reflected on its balance sheets.

The Not-So-Grimm Brothers, created by David Devine, Richard Mozer and Heather Conkie, is a six-part, one-hour family series based on the folktales of the Brothers Grimm and described by Devine as a ‘Mayberry gone awry.’ *
