The International Festival of New Cinema and New Media, held Oct. 11-21 in Montreal, has chosen Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai as the winner of its Louve d’or prize for best feature film for In the Mood for Love. The prize includes a cheque for $5,000.
The festival gave a special jury prize to Pierre-Paul Renders’ Belgium/France coproduction, Thomas est amoureux. The Radio-Canada screenwriting award, also providing a $5,000 cheque, went to Amores Perros from Mexico’s Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Guillermo Arriaga.
The three-member feature film jury included Arsinee Khanjian, Roger Diamantis and Jose Maria Riba. *
