Montreal: Actress acc Janine Sutto is the recipient of this year’s career achievement Gemeaux – le Grand Prix de l’Academie. The award, sponsored by Ford du Canada, along with three other Prix Gemeaux special prize winners, was announced at an ACCT – Quebec reception on Oct. 5
Sutto’s remarkable career in tv and theatre goes back to the earlier days of television and productions such as Les Belles histoires des pays d’en haut, Symphorien and Ent’Cadieux to Le Coeur decouvert, a new Radio-Canada teleroman inspired by the Michel Tremblay novel and slated for broadcast in 2001.
The Academy’s Prix Special is awarded to Louise Spickler for contribution to developing new talent in the industry. Spickler is director-general of l’Institut national de l’image et du son, Quebec’s advanced film school. The first Prix Gemeaux de la Francophonie, awarded in association with TV5 in recognition of international success or support, goes to Michel Drucker, a star personality with the France 2 tv network.
An episode of the Studio Via Le Monde series Terre Comprise, ‘Pour mieux vivre ensemble,’ is the winner of the Prix du Multiculturalisme, awarded in association with Canadian Heritage. The series, broadcast by tfo/tvontario, profiles people working on innovative international projects which promote harmony and environmental awareness. Catherine Viau and Gregoire Viau directed. The producer is Daniel Bertolino.
The 15th edition of the Gala des Prix Gemeaux will be broadcast Oct. 15 on rdi at 2:30 p.m. and on src starting at 7:30 p.m. *
