Montreal: Cinar Corp. says it expects to receive an additional us$3.6 million from Globe-X Management. The payment means us$62 million, from an initial us$122 million in ‘unauthorized’ investments with Globe-X, is still outstanding.
A spokesperson for Cinar says the company’s 1999 financial statements will be ready shortly for audit by Ernst & Young llp. Meanwhile, the company is also close to naming an investment banker, with details of the terms of the mandate to be made public when the consultant is named.
In other news, Cinar and sartec (Societe des auteurs de radio, television et cinema) have reached what is essentially a rectification notice agreement related to the interpretation and applications of contracts for the writing of one of the original bibles for the 112-episode children’s series Wimzie’s House.
The agreement specifies the signatory authors Danielle Dansereau, Pauline Michel, Michele Poirier and Paul Risacher ‘made a real and significant creative contribution, evaluated at 75%, to the final version of the bible that was used to produce the television series. Therefore, the credits of the series should have included the following mention: A series by Danielle Dansereau, Pauline Michel, Michele Poirier and Paul Risacher.’
