Alliance Atlantis Communications has inked a three-year output deal with Spain’s Telecinco for the Toronto company’s Le Monde Entertainment titles.
The new deal gives Telecinco all rights to Le Monde’s genre division, which includes its most recent feature to wrap, Second Skin, directed by Darrell Roodt (Sarafina), produced by David Witcht of Film Afrika (Tarzan) and shot on location in South Africa.
‘This deal solidifies our existing relationship with Telecinco and illustrates their confidence in the quality of the Le Monde programming,’ states Mark Horowitz, president of Alliance Atlantis Pictures International. ‘Telecinco has previously acquired the Le Monde titles Falling Through and CaraCara and wanted to secure our future product by formalizing an agreement.’ .
Horowitz, who negotiated the deal with Ghislain Barrois, managing director of acquisitions and coproductions for Telecinco, has also concluded an agreement for the Le Monde titles with Israel’s Forum Films, which already has an output deal with aac for its higher budget features and has now extended it to a parallel output deal for Le Monde titles.
aac/Le Monde’s feature film properties include Black Mask, Airborne, Dearly Devoted (starring Rose McGowan) and Teacher’s Pet (starring Jodi Lynn O’Keefe).
