Spin Master Entertainment has expanded its global distribution team with two key Toronto-based appointments.
Lindsay Brown (pictured left) has been hired as senior director of global distribution. She joined last September and manages the company’s global content sales, focusing on extending brands and franchises such as Unicorn Academy and Vida the Vet.
Brown most recently served as senior director, international sales and acquisitions at Kartoon Studios (formerly Genius Brands International). She has more than a decade of sales experience at companies such as Fox, Incendo, Shaftesbury and Entertainment One.
Jill Cimorelli (pictured right) has been appointed as senior manager, strategic audience engagement. Cimorelli has previously created content strategies for Spin Master brands such as PAW Patrol and Unicorn Academy as a social media influencer. Her new role, effective last November, sees her drive audience engagement via Spin Master’s music distribution strategy and YouTube ecosystem.
Both Brown and Cimorelli report to Caroline Tyre, VP of global content distribution.
Spin Master announced on Thursday (Feb. 6) that it is developing a live-action film based on the popular Bakugan franchise. Gander, N.L.-born director Brad Peyton is attached to direct, write and produce the film, with Lindsay Harbert on board to help develop the script in collaboration with Spin Master.
The Bakugan franchise launched in 2007 with the anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers, coproduced by Nelvana and Tokyo-based TMS Entertainment. Spin Master, Nelvana and TMS relaunched the franchise in 2018 with Bakugan Battle Planet.
