Decode Entertainment has made a major foray into the competitive French children’s market by selling three series to France 3.
Angela Anaconda (52 x 30) has been picked up by the French broadcaster for four years, beginning January 2001 and following its six-month window on Cartoon Network in France.
France 3 has also prebought the exclusive terrestrial, cable and satellite rights for four years of the new animated series What About Mimi? (26 x 30), produced by Studio b in Vancouver, with Decode attached as exec producer and worldwide distributor in association with EM Entertainment. The new series, which centres on the life of an 11-year-old problem solver extraordinaire, will also begin airing in January 2001, acting as a companion show to Angela.
Decode’s The Zack Files, based on the books by Dan Greenberg, has also been prebought by the French broadcaster for an initial four years.
Following a one-year pay window on Disney France, the series, which makes its North American debut this fall on ytv in Canada and Fox Family Channel in the u.s., is scheduled to go to air on France 3 in September 2002.
