The crtc has called for comments (PN 99-173) on an application filed by tvontario seeking discretionary analog distribution for tfo, the French-language educational service, by cable, dth and mds operators in Quebec. The commission’s call notes both tvo and tfo are already on the eligible services list.

tvo’s submission says the distribution basis for tfo should be ‘no less favorable than the basis on which French-language specialty services are required to be distributed in Quebec.’

There are now 11 French-language specialty tv channels, with four more slated to begin broadcasting Jan. 10, 2000.

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 12.
