Discovery numbers rise with Sex Files

The Discovery Channel has begun steaming up the tube with the launch of its newest series, The Sex Files. ‘The Erection’, its premiere episode which aired on Oct. 6, drew an average audience of 221,000 viewers, ranking it as one of the top programs broadcast on Discovery so far this year.

Showcasing the latest findings on a variety of sex-oriented topics, including fetishes, fantasies, breasts and orgasms, the 13-part series produced by Discovery’s own epi Production features many of the world’s leading sexperts, places a strong emphasis on vibrant visuals and employs leading-edge graphic techniques.

Additional staff has been hired for the purpose of creating an interactive experience that goes beyond conventional tv. Accompanying the new series is a new website, exn.ca/sexfiles. Throughout each episode, specific cues will be shown on-screen to direct viewers to the website, using Discovery’s new interactive symbol (the letter ‘i’ in a circle).

The content of the website, like the tv show, is intended for mature audiences, as it contains nudity and frank descriptions.
