The National Screen Institute-Canada is currently accepting applications for Drama Prize 2000, offering prizes of up to $30,000 in training, $6,000 in services and $6,000 in cash to six teams to use toward the making of a short film.
The Drama Prize was created as a development program for novice filmmakers looking to enhance their skills and jump-start their careers. The deadline for applications is Nov. 19, and the selected teams will be announced at the 2000 Local Heroes Festival, which will also feature the short films made through the 1999 Drama Prize.
Films already made with money from the Drama Prize include Twisted Sheets and Babette’s Feet.
Applications can be found online at www.nsi-canada.ca/dramaprize.
