Vancouver: Yet another founding member of Red Sky Entertainment has left swiftly and under unhappy terms.
Anna Maria Muccilli, vp of publicity and promotion at the Vancouver-based distributor, has left the company and returned to Toronto.
‘There is an increasingly different vision for the future of the company,’ says Muccilli, echoing the words of former ceo Tony Cianciotta who was ousted earlier this year after a rumored conflict with the key investors, Working Opportunity Fund and Royal Bank Capital Corp.
Muccilli, in explaining she ‘hadn’t planned for’ her exit from Red Sky, says she will work as a distribution consultant in the short term. At Red Sky, she was responsible for orchestrating communications strategies to promote the company and its film releases.
Mike Smallwood, president and ceo of Red Sky, insists Muccilli was not fired and that she left for ‘personal reasons.’
He maintains that Red Sky will not lose its remaining founding partners, Mary-Pat Gleeson and Dave Forget. ‘We have the team to go forward,’ says Smallwood. ‘You won’t see anymore changes.
‘Our long-term future is pretty secure,’ he adds. ‘We have investor commitments. [Muccilli’s departure] is not a significant change.’
Muccilli, says Smallwood, will not be replaced.
