Senior media executive and producer Bree Tiffin has died at 50.
Tiffin (pictured) died early on Nov. 3 at Kensington House Hospice in Toronto following a diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer.
“The industry hasn’t just lost a great talent; it has lost one of its brightest and most wonderful souls,” Josie Crimi, SVP of production and development at Scott Brothers Entertainment told Playback Daily.
Tiffin was born Aug. 12, 1974 in Prince Albert, Sask. as the first-born child. According to her obituary, she often teased her brother that she paved the way for his “easy ride.” She enjoyed journaling, meditation and art therapy classes online.
Tiffin spent more than 20 years working in the factual and unscripted genres. She was VP of Content for Crooked Horse, a division of Boat Rocker Media. In 2020, she became a showrunner on Property Brothers: Forever Home and in 2021 transitioned to content programming executive at Scott Brothers Entertainment.
Her credits include Late Nite Eats, Vintage Tech Hunters, Decked Out, Disaster Decks and History in the Making.
“Bree was not only a talented executive producer but also a dear friend to anyone lucky enough to know her. I first met her 16 years ago at General Purpose Entertainment,” said Crimi, SVP of production and development at Scott Brothers Entertainment told Playback Daily.
“Though we saw each other socially after she moved on, I missed our creative banter, and was so happy when we finally reunited professionally 10 years later at Scott Brothers Entertainment. Sadly, our time together was cut short.”
A celebration of life will be held Nov. 30 at 1:30 pm at the Cardinal Funeral Home – Bathurst Chapel in Toronto. The celebration will also be livestreamed, with a link provided closer to the date.
“Bree had a unique ability to bring her wicked sense of humour into every situation, lifting everyone’s spirits, even during the most intense moments. People adored working with her—not only for her incredible professionalism but also for the kindness and warmth she brought to everything she did,” Crimi continued. “A true creative force, she approached every project with thoughtfulness and heart.”
Tiffin is survived by her parents, Rick and Aileen, and brother, Shawn.
