Montreal: Montreal-based The Multimedia Group of Canada and Holland’s European Media Support have signed a transatlantic production and distribution pact.
mgc will export ems’s mainly documentary product worldwide except for presale financing territories.
‘We will be cofinancing 20 to 30 hours of quality documentary [and infomag] production per year,’ says Sari Buksner, mgc senior vp, international sales and development.
The Montreal exporter will help ems find suitable Canadian coproduction partners, starting with Odyssey of Food, a new international documentary series being coproduced with Prisma Productions of Montreal.
ems is headed by managing director Ton Okkerse and based in Halversum, Holland. The company is an established Discovery supplier.
New ems product at mipdoc (April 10-12) repped by mgc includes Pioneers of Egyptology, the three-hour series Flying and Siege: Castles at War, a one-hour special on the ‘horror and glory’ of medieval war.
mgc also picked up the big-budget ems doc Treasures of the Earth, presold to La Cinquieme, France’s education network, rai in Italy, Discovery International and Discovery Channel, u.s.
