Over 100 submissions, a third more than last year, were received for this year’s National Screen Institute’s Drama Prize competition, which awards six producer, writer, director teams over $11,000 in cash and services towards a short film.
The majority of submissions came from Ontario with 36, followed by b.c. with 27. Ten entries were from Alberta, nine each from Manitoba and Quebec, seven were from Saskatchewan, six from Nova Scotia, and one each from New Brunswick and the Northwest Territories.
Winners will be announced Feb. 22, 1999 at the Local Heroes International Screen Festival in Edmonton.
