Six screenwriters have been chosen to participate in the seventh iteration of Pacific Screenwriting Program’s (PSP) Scripted Series Lab.
The 2025 lab is run by showrunner-in-residence Nelu Handa, who was a writer and producer on all three seasons of Run the Burbs, as well as co-showrunner in its final season.
From January to April 2025, participants will develop an original series under Handa’s guidance. They will also receive script mentoring on their original pilots, opportunities to attend workshops and information sessions with industry leaders as well as attend the Vancouver Scripted Summit in April.
The 2025 cohort is comprised of Cindy Hu, Corina Bizim, Deborah Vogt, Mateo Gugushe, Sam Keiran Macneil and Shaun Balbar.
Many of the past participants have earned writing credits on series such as Global’s Family Law and Murder in a Small Town; CBC’s Allegiance and Wild Cards; as well as CTV’s Sight Unseen, according to a release.
“Each participant in this year’s cohort brings an impressive set of skills and experiences,” said Kate Anderson, manager of the Scripted Series Lab in a statement. “I have no doubt that this group will create something wonderful under Nelu’s guidance.”
PSP’s Scripted Series Lab is supported by Creative BC, The BC Film Foundation and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
