Vancouver: Vancouver’s Mainframe Entertainment will release the first of two large-format, computer-animated features in 2000, the company announced yesterday.
Gulliver’s Travels will be created with Mainframe’s 3D computer animation technology that’s used on its series including ReBoot, War Planet (Shadowraiders) and Beast Wars (Beasties) and will screen at imax and IMAX 3D theaters around the globe.
In this version of the classic tale, set in the lilliputian world of the early 1700s, Mainframe will create an ‘eight-storey’ high Gulliver. Ian Pearson is producer and Brendan McCarthy is handling production design.
‘No other company has ever produced a film like this,’ claims Mainframe ceo and vice-chair Christopher Brough. ‘It will be a story-driven, all-cgi, stereoscopic 3D motion picture in the 15/70 format.’
